• Although a consultation is not mandatory prior to starting therapy, it is recommended. The reason we recommend it, is to ensure we are a good fit before investing in services. We know therapy is an investment and we want to make sure you feel it is a good fit before starting.

  • Most insurance plans cover services by a Registered Social Workers. I encourage you to reach out to your benefit provider to double check if you are unsure. Once you have paid for your session, we will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider.

*We do not do direct billing to insurance companies

  • Confidentiality holds significant importance in therapy. It is a priority to us that you feel safe and comfortable sharing with your therapist, knowing that your information will remain private at all times.

Everything talked about in therapy stays between you and your therapist, unless they have a legal obligation to breach confidentiality. This is discussed more in depth in the first session. Before starting therapy, you will be given a copy of the confidentiality policy, you'll have time to review it and in the first session, you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

  • At the beginning of the first session, you and your therapist will spend a few minutes reviewing the consent form and cancellation policy that you will be emailed in advance of the session.

You will then begin the process of getting to know each other. Your therapist will gather information about you, start to build a rapport with you, and answer any questions you may have. This gathering of information allows your therapist to get a better understanding of what has led you to therapy.

  • Here at Maywood Counselling, we do not believe that finances should act as a barrier to accessing mental health supports. With this being said, we do have a specific number of sliding scale slots. Please reach out to us and we can have a conversation about sliding scale options.

  • Sliding scale therapy is a flexible payment model that we use to make our services more accessible and affordable to individuals who may have financial constraints. We will have a conversation to agree upon a rate that feels comfortable for the both of us.
